Malaysia
Tourist Visa – General Information
Malaysia has a visa-friendly
policy and allows visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to citizens of
many countries for short visits.
Visa-Free Entry
- Citizens of over 160 countries
(including most of Europe, UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Japan, South
Korea, ASEAN nations, GCC countries, etc.) can enter without a visa.
- Allowed stay ranges from 14 to
90 days, depending on nationality.
- Purpose: Tourism, business
meetings, conferences, social visits.
eVisa / eNTRI (Pre-Arrival
Visa)
- Travelers from some countries
(parts of South Asia, Africa, Middle East) must apply for a Malaysia
eVisa or eNTRI online before travel.
- Usually allows a single entry
with a stay of 15–30 days.
- Processing time: 1–5 working
days.
Visa
on Arrival (VOA)
- Available to limited
nationalities and only when entering from neighboring countries
(such as Singapore or Thailand), subject to conditions.
- Not available at all entry points.
Basic
Entry Requirements (All Travelers)
- Passport valid for at least 6
months
- Confirmed return or onward ticket
- Proof of accommodation (hotel invitation or booking)
- Sufficient funds for the stay
- Malaysia Digital Arrival Card
(MDAC) – must be completed
online before arrival (mandatory for most travelers)
Important
Notes
- Visa-free entry cannot be
extended easily.
- Work, study, or long-term stays
require a separate visa or pass.
- Immigration approval is granted
at the port of entry, even for visa-free travelers.
