Visa Information

Bangkok, Thailand Visa Basics

1. Visa Requirement

Thailand allows visa-free entry for citizens of many countries for short stays. Travellers from visa-required countries must obtain an appropriate Thai Visa before travel. A visa does not guarantee entry, as the final decision rests with the Thai Immigration authorities upon arrival.

2. Passport Validity

Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into Thailand and should contain at least one blank page for immigration stamps.

3. Length of Stay

The permitted duration of stay depends on your nationality and visa type. Many eligible travellers may enter Thailand visa-free for up to 30 or 60 days, while those travelling for conferences or business may require a Non-Immigrant Visa or another appropriate visa category, depending on their nationality and purpose of visit.

Visa Exemptions

Citizens of many countries, including most ASEAN member states, the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, and several European countries, may enter Thailand without a visa for short stays, subject to Thailand's current visa exemption policy.

Thailand Visa Requirements

Applicants typically need:

•              Valid passport

•              Completed visa application form

•              Recent passport-sized photographs

•              Proof of accommodation

•              Confirmed return or onward flight itinerary

•              Proof of sufficient financial means

•              Conference invitation letter (if applicable)

•              Additional supporting documents as required by the Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate

It is recommended to apply at least 2–4 weeks before your intended travel date.

Indian Citizens

Indian passport holders should verify the latest entry requirements before travelling. Depending on the current immigration policy, Indian citizens may be eligible for visa-free entry for a specified period or may need to obtain an appropriate Thai visa prior to travel. If a visa is required, applications should be submitted through the Royal Thai Embassy/Consulate or an authorised Thai Visa Application Centre along with the necessary supporting documents.
