Professor I. Pioro is one of the well-known names in the field of energy/nuclear engineering and heat
transfer; graduated from National Technical University of Ukraine with the M.A.Sc. in Thermal Physics in
1979; worked at Institute of Engineering Thermal Physics, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine
(NASU) (1979–1992); PhD from 1983 and Doctor of Technical Sciences from 1992; University of Ottawa
(1992–2000); Chalk River Labs (AECL) (2000–2006), and University of Ontario Institute of Technology
(2006 till now). He is a P.Eng. (Ont.); Fellow of ASME, CAE, CSME & EIC; Life-time member of ANS
and member of CNS; Foreign Fellow of NASU; Founding Editor (2014) & Editor-in-Chief (2014–2024)
of ASME J. NERS; author/co-author of more than 580 publications.
